that could be a possibility.. and it is also possible you have two females..but i don't think so... so keep positive..they may go through this change naturally..time will tell.

Well when the larger one with the fins gets the fins, she chases around the other one and always puts her face on the underside of the other one. Would she do that even if it was a female?

And thanks Liz :D

I think the white stuff surrounding the egg is all gone. Did it dissolve? or did it go into the eggs meaning it was fertilization?

i doubt that would happen, but anything is a possibility only because we do not have a clear way to ID sex and that we just do not know their behavior in breeding..but one thing i know is your the first to have eggs.. and i assume that they are a breeding pair ... could be unfertilized eggs.. or could be good eggs.. just wait and see.. and let me know how they look or what changes are going on.

 Research what? This is new territory. Nothing is known. We are watching the dawn of a new captive breeding process afaik.

Haha thank you Knifegill

Good news? Just maybe.

So there was the white stuff around the eggs at first, right? Then I separated the eggs and now the white stuff is gone; did it go into the eggs as fertilization? Or did it dissolve?

Well now that I noticed this, I'm leaning towards the fact it fertilized the eggs. I found some of the white stuff on the intake tube of the fx5 and it's not dissolving, therefore I'm guessing the eggs are fertilized :D
