the only thing that worries me is how stressed she looks everytime she lays eggs.I am no authority on highbreds, Do know its good she laying her eggs, as stated becoming bound can be deadly.

200 gallon with 1 oscar, 1 polleni, 4 blood parrots, 1 firemouth and 2 severums
hello; My guess is while a 200 gallon tank is big, it is not big enough for her to control the sort of territory that would keep all the other fish at a comfortable distance. The other fish are not likely to go hide in a corner as well.thing that worries me is how stressed she looks everytime she lays eggs.
Hello; this is true. She may be the tuff guy in the tank.Fish often display brighter/deeper colors when breeding, not always due to stress.
Yes she is. she bosses around my 9" oscar.Hello; this is true. She may be the tuff guy in the tank.
All fish just run away from her but i have been thinking putting her in a tank for herself since she gets crazy when on breeding mode.hello; My guess is while a 200 gallon tank is big, it is not big enough for her to control the sort of territory that would keep all the other fish at a comfortable distance. I have watched nesting brim on their shallow water nests. In one pond in particular there was limited suitable area for nesting. They had their nests fairly close together with each pair constantly on guard. There were also other fish swimming around the perimeter of the nesting area that they were on watch for.
Not sure the stress she is having is out of bounds for the spawning process. Don't get me wrong, things could be better if you had a different tank so either she can be alone or all the other fish could be moved away.
The thing to watch out for will be actual damage to her or the other fish. If she or another are getting beaten up then you may ought to consider some sort of change.
Good luck
Exactly!Since 99% of all bloodparrotmales are not able to fertilize eggs thats why you wont get them to a fry stage. If you wanna get fry you should get an CAcichlid male of some sort. Red devil as an example.
aren't those really aggressive? would it do good with the other fish i have in my tank?Since 99% of all bloodparrotmales are not able to fertilize eggs thats why you wont get them to a fry stage. If you wanna get fry you should get an CAcichlid male of some sort. Red devil as an example.
