eh need help determining tank size

My dad wont let me get a bigger than a 55g because itll be in my room along with my 150g and hes worried about weight which I understand. And its fine I really like them but this may be put on the back burner> i dont no if you have to use RODI water or can I use water from tap and use the conditioners in it like I do with my freshwater tanKS/

Tap water is fine if you use a saltwater conditioner although RO/DI is better; the main thing is that you'll have to be a little more diligent on your water changes if you use the tap water. If you're not going for a reef, then tap water should be perfectly fine for your purposes since you have a little more leeway on the water parameters.

okay thats a relief lol because I have no room for a RO/DI system in my room lol.

You'll still want to make sure that you have room for your mixed saltwater that's used for water changes, so be sure to factor that in. I use a Rubbermaid garbage can to hold my mixed saltwater; I have a small heater and a powerhead in there in order to closely match the aquarium conditions.

I'd say the 55 gallon, I have a 18inch white ribbon eel in a 55 and he loves it, snow flake eels aren't as skinny, but they're still pretty skinny, so they'll be fine in a 55 and with salt, you probably know, the more water the better.

So I have to pre mix the water before I put it in i cant just fill it up and add the salt lol

It's easier to premix it so that it's already oxygenated and at the correct salinity; it can take a while for the water to get to the correct salinity otherwise. You should always premix it when doing water changes, too.
