Eheim 1262?

Why not go with a quiet one 4000? More bang for your buck (1017gph @ 0ft head) and runs at 50 watts. It's half the price of the eheim.
I have both. I have bucket tested the eheim @ 5' head and got a bit over 725gph. It is definately quieter than the mag9.5.
see quietness is the key, the tank is in the lounge, my friend has 2 fx5's on his tank, and the mrs has now heard how quiet they are,. ]
although i must admit my current pump could do with being a bit quieter
thinking mag 9.5 can get one in the uk for £116 unfortunatley we arent lucky enough to pickup for $99 lol.

I have a 1260, QuietOne, Mag 18 and Mag 7. The Eheims are large but if you have the space, they are quiet and reliable. I've heard that you shouldn't use the Mags externally (they leak or something). I only use mine to move water during water changes, not for continuous use.
The worst pump is the Quietone and I'm not alone in my experience. They're cheaper than the other pumps for a reason.

I have a 1260 and 2x 1262's and a quietone 9000. I bought the 1262's for the quietness for the living room. thumbs up, both up.

so to confirm you reckon 1262 over mag 9.5?
edit, or the eheim compact 5000? not pushed on space so whatever is quietest with most turnover and reliable.
