Eheim 2075 Leaking.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So i was able to get out 2 screws with the 6 star tip screwdriver. The 3rd screw was deeper and the regular screwdriver could not reach it. I tried a smaller flat head screwdriver and i got it out no problem. So i tried it on the 4th screw and i think I might of stripped it. Going to lowes or HD tomorrow and hopefully i can find a small 6 star screw driver that is a whole screwdriver and not one of those that has changable tips. If that doesnt work then i dont know what else to do to get the screw out.

Thats where I went for the screws, here its the part number HO1707285.
Screws 6x3/4 SS, they are not the same head but same tread, they work.
Also want to mention I used the impeller for a 2028, the filter runs quieter and a bit more flow, I tested my self, basically the same impeller different blade.

So i finally was able to take the motor apart and put silicone grease on the o rings. I put the motor back together with out the cover of the filter. I set everything up and tested it. The top immediately filled with water. I tried plugging it in to see what would happen and you could smell a bad odor comming from the filter. The smell was similar to eggs/sulfur. Only thing i can think of is that i didnt grease up all the correct areas. Im back to square one.

Could you tell where the water was coming from?

I couldnt tell exactly where it was comming from. All I know the top of the filter filled with water quick. Im guessing it's leaking from the primer seal like Rudy suggested.

The water comes from the priming seal, first picture with the screw driver, indicating the location of the leak.

I just got done trying running the filter and leaked again. Yup the leak is comming from that exact spot and from the opposite end. I have applied silicone grease in the spots that you recommended. What should i do next?

Before you tight any screw make sure the cover (4th picture) fits nice and snug, pressed it down then put the tension spring with the gray cover, tight the screws in opposite sequence, you want to have the cover even in all four corners, if you have tight too much in one end the other won't seal.
Hook the hoses, don't put the cover so you can see if the leak still there and from where, and if still tight a bit more, good luck.

So after couple more attempts last night, as of right now the filter is fixed and is not leaking. I think the major change was the screws. I noticed that i wasnt able to get one of the screws snug like the other 3. I changed all 4 screws after making sure everything was placed back properly and BAM. Leak is gone. I currently running it with the top off. Its been over 12 hours and no leak. Usually it would leak within seconds. So we will see what happens.

Thank you Rudy for all your help and especially for the pictures. There is no way i would have been to fix it without your instructions. And thanks to Dee for always helping me.

Ill give an update in a week or so to see if it continues to run without leaking or if anything happens. Hopefully this thread can help someone in the future if they have this problem with this model.
