Eheim 2080 on a 60 Gallon... IS IT CRAZY?

I Just lost my Eheim classic 2215 after 10 years of service. RIP old faithful.

I just bought a Eheim 2080 to replace it in my 65 gallon tank. I am currently just waiting for Canada post to ship it. The plan being that I will be upgrading that 60 within the next year or so to put the 2080 in.

Is there anyway this filter will be to much for a small 60 gallon tank?
 
the filter is rated for a 300 gallon but you can never have enough filtration. the real problem to solve is how are you going to prevent it from turning you 60gal into a whirlpool?
 
What are you going to stock it with?
 
which will be nice for those guys since they are such huge waste creators.... so the large filtration will be actually pretty nice to have.
 
cool!!!! Do I think the 2280 is over kill???? Yes but overkill on any aquarium is not a bad thing. All in all I think you got a sweet filter and did the right thing since you plan on upgrading the tank
 
I was concerned that even on the low setting it would create to much current in the tank stressing the fish out. RBP's are river fish and do require more current then other fish but still was thinking the 2080 would be to much. I'm concerned and excited all at once haha. Cost me an arm and a leg to get. 625 for media and filter. CRAZY!!
 
I know Eheim is pocket breaker brand but i wouldnt trade mine for the world. Just angle spray bar to down towards the wall parallel to in this should help a little.
 
my last one lasted 10 years without a problem... I only had to replace the impeller a few times... Pocket breaker at first but saves money in the long run IMO
