I have a 300 gallon tank my stock will consist of a gar, 3 pikes cichilds a pair of jags, a midas, a GT, maybe a pair of JDs and a clown knife. I may add more but this is what i have so fair in my current tanks. My question is which filter is better for a well stocked tank of large fish? which can i connect to my overflows if i want to go that route and still use my overflows? (I plan on adding a sump but only if i have to if i need more BIO) What do you guys/girls think i should do?

Get a 2262. More GPH than a 2260,and much better mechanical filtration than a 2080,with more than enough bio.

so i should only need one?

ANYONE ELSE?

Howdy,

I have both filters. The 2080 runs a 75 gal tank and can barely keep up. Very poor mech filtration, the worst Eheim I've ever owned. :thumbsdow

The 2262 is the exact opposite: A perfect workhorse. It powers my 220 gal and I couldn't be happier . I'd get 2x 2262 if I had a 300 gal.

I was looking at these two as well for a 300G aro comm, until I made the mistake of not having the stand built tall enough so I am settling for the 2250. I will most probably get three of these.
I don't think you can go wrong with either, where I am the 2080 doesn't cost much more than the 2260. If you decide on the latter, I'd go with the 2262 as fishbum and HarleyK recommends just for the turnover.

NICE POINT
