how much electricity does a 2262 consume? compared to the 30 watts that a 2080 uses?

NICE POINT
Actually, I don't think so :grinno:

2262 = 80 Watts
2080 = 30 Watts

Electricity costs (on my bill)
$0.18 per kWh

2262 per day = 80W x 24h = 1920 Wh = $0.35/day
2080 per day = 30W x 24h = 720 Wh = $0.13/day

Now think about how much you paid for your fish, how much you pay for food, and tell me with a straight face that 22 Cents per day really matter...

I have the 2250 on my 210 with a 13"oscar, a 13" sailfin plec., a 10"reg. plec. 7 salvini, 18 africans and one 5"red tail botia...oh yeah, one 6" stone fish.
BB colony outstanding!!
Flow, o.k....
Cost of the eheim effisubstrate pro...all 12L...REDICULOUS!!!!
A 2262 will cost a fortune in media. seriously. You will need to take out a small loan!! But one heluva good filter series!!! Bulletproof.

2262 for sure.

how about putting 3 2080's will it come up the same as 2 x 2262's? am asking because am contemplating on getting the 2080's because of the watt usage

I would be more worried about spending another $500 on a filter with media,rather than a few extra cents a month. Get 2x 2262's. You won't be sorry.

that will be 70 cents a day on 2 x 2262 , so that will come up to roughly $24 a month on electricity , what about the ease on cleaning the 2262?

Ease of filter cleaning is a function of frequency and user-friendliness.
The 2262 is so huge that I only open it once per year. Flow didn't decrease, it wasn't clogged, I just thought I'd check out the innards. Could've probably gone another 8 months no problem. No doubt about it, cleaning 5 gallons of media is a dirty job (should call Mike Rowe the next time I clean this beast)
The 2080, though often hailed for its media trays, is IMO a PITA because of all the extra steps to prevent bypass (--> HERE <--). They say it holds 3.5 gal, but I think a lot of that gets lost in between trays. The trays are easy to clean, of course, they hold about 1 gallon of media each, which is easy to handle.

I don't see a winner here, and to me, a task that I perform once a year does not determine which filter powers my tank 24/7.

okay just bought my 2262 at BigAl's for $408 should be here by the weekend. Can someone give me some media setup options to think about?

I have two 2262 on a 172G tank. In the near future, on the next tank ( 20 days ), i will put a one more 2262 ( three in total ).

Man it is a amazing filter.

Forget the 2080 and/or FX5 ( same format filter ).....

any media setup ideas?
