I just recently purchased and installed an Eheim Pro 3 2080 filter. It was working great but just last week I noticed the flow was really low. I looked at the flow meter and it was at the very bottom. I cleaned the filter and it wasnt that dirty. I plugged it back in and the meter was still at the bottom. I played with it by turning it off and on and pushing the priming button then some how the meter went back to the top.

I thought it was okay until i checked a few days later and the meter was back to the bottom. Then I did the same thing and it was back to the top. Now I checked again and it was back to the bottom but this time I can't get the flow back up. Can someone PLEASE help me?? I've never owned an Eheim before and was really excited about it. Now I dont know if I got a defect or if I'm doing something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Check for leaks using some soapy water. Also check for kinks in the tubing. Have you checked both intakes to see if the grate is clean, and free of debris?

How do you chech for leaks with soapy water? It's running on my fish tank. Would I need to take it off the tank? I don't think there are any kinks but it's hard to see with my set up. I guess I have to disconnect all hoses to make sure. Any other ideas? Thanks!

Just apply a 4:1 water: soap solution to the different connections. This includes between the canister and the head (housing for the pump).

ahhhhhhh.... Rookie Eheim user mistake. I figured out what it was. At the risk of sounding stupid but in the attempt to possibly help someone else out in the future I'll post what I did. I placed the white fine fliter on top of the plastic grate thing instead of under it, directly ontop of the filter media bucket handle. This is what was causing it to get clogged. Anyways lesson learned. Works great now! ;) :headbang2
