hi- im new here, but not to fish. i have an eheim 2250 cansiter. its great but the pump died out recently. so what eheim pump should i buy to replace the broken pump? eheim says it does 300 gph or so, which seems to be about right. thanks for the help!

If the pump is in fact toast,( I assume you have broken it down and discovered that the impeller and shaft are ok?) then a suitable replacement would be an Eheim 1250.
The whole pump will cost you about $100±. The new impeller and shaft will set you back $45±. The actual replacement 1253 will cost more and pump less than the 1250,(about 20gph more for the 1250)
Make absolute sure its not the impeller, it could save you some$$$.

thanks. yea, the first thing i did was rip out the impeller and check it. all was good, even the shaft. new pump was expensive, but hey it's worth it. eheim was great to deal with via e-mail for replacement parts. a very good company.

Agreed. Eheim could rule the world if they dropped their prices, even just a bit!
Save the old parts for spares!
Good luck!

Eheim "does" rule the world!!! Their filters last "forever" (12+ years and still going strong)!!! Eheim media is expensive too, however, I'm still using the same Efisubtrat that I bought 12 years ago. If it lasts this long - with no end in sight - then the price works out very well.

I just went in and looked at both of my 2250s. They don't have a model number, but a little cross ref and the above information seems correct for replacement issues. There also appears to be a little space under the top cover so conceivably, you could upgrade the pump without a problem.

There is no a problem swaping the pump, you will need also the elbow to fit the 1260 pump and the hose for the return and your 2250 will have double the flow
