You will have issues with flow rate.

Why is this ? Im curious as I am getting one for my monster tank soon after seeing you and others having good reviews about them.

A 2262 is the best filter out there for a /\/\onstertank.

But:

A 75 gal is NOT a /\/\onstertank (from the point of view of a 2262 Eheim). A 2262 will turn that size tank into a whirlpool. Completely unsuitable for species from anywhere other than fast-flowing mountain creeks.

Yep, you will have to drill some serious holes in the spray bar in many different directions in a 75 gallon to keep the water from whirlpooling.
Even in my 300 gallon with 8 additional holes drilled in the spraybar, I had to add suction cup ancors to all my tall plants just to keep them from folding over under the flow rate.
The 2262 is a beast of a filter. And works great!!!!
I am 100% completely happy with mine.
I have the 2262 and two Emperor 400's on my 300g and the water is crystal clear.
And the 2262 is dead quiet.
Could not ask for more.

i know nothing about eheims, but, i think these are rated at about 900gph? so they should be similar to the fx5

fx5 on my 75g is perfect, sure, it moves a lot of water, but not to much, i still use a korilia 4 powerhead for more movement.

Fluval pumps slow down quite a bit when loaded up, Eheim pumps can keep up quite a bit better. An eheim 2080 isn't too far down from an FX5, which would be ~half the flow rate of the 2262.

Hooked it up tonight and while it flows well my small umbee are not bothered by it like i said I plan on moving it to my 300 gallon once I get it set up thanks for all the replies..

I'm about to hook one up to my 100 gallon hope it's not too much flow. I have a 1500 gph power head in there and it's perfect flow I hope to remove it when the 2262 is installed

I just found this old statement of mine, and I stand corrected! Right now, I am running a 2262 on my 75 gal, and another 2262 on my 55 gal. Perfect! Haven’t had to clean my filters in over 2 years. Bigger is better!
i just thought I’d post this because I need to flame my younger self:nutkick:

Yeah and idk if the eheims work the same as fx6 but you could always just cut the return power/flow with the included output valves if it was too much. I always thought the fx6 was perfect when I ran it on 75-100g tanks.

Backfromthedead Backfromthedead I actually don’t throttle flow. Instead, I drill open the existing nozzles on the spray bars to reduce the speed at which water re-enters the tank (same gph). And I Y-split the intake tubing into two to have outlets on both sides of the tank.

And please don’t get me wrong, I used to run two 2262 on my old 220 gallon, and they worked great! A single one of them just also happens to work extremely well on a smaller tank 🙂
