Hello,

I have started to have a problem with my 2078 since yesterday after cleaning the filter. When it first starts up, all of the green lights are on, and everything appears normal, but after a few minutes, just the bottom amber light is on & flashing although there is no change in the output of water to the tank.

I have checked & double checked everything, and even tried a search for the problem, but other then a generic "service" type of response, I cannot figure out what the issue could be at all.

The filter is used on a 75 gallon understocked goldfish aquarium (3 very large fantails & one bristlenose pleco). There is no substrate other than a few large rocks & driftwood - water parameters are perfect (people tend to ask about all that even though I don't quite get the reference since I'm asking about a filter error).

Anyone have one of these models (or one that is comparable) and know what could be the problem?

If I do a reset on it to factory defaults, it does as expected, but the amber light returns after a few minutes each time

Thanks in advance!

You may want to look at the manual about deactivation of manual mode...

section 7B...

I don't own this model and after reading through the menual, I am convinced unless I need to manage flow with regard to time of the day, I will NEVER EVER buy a pump with electronics in it.

As I stated above, I've reset it to factory default (which is not manual mode). It suddenly is not misbehaving as quickly as it was before, so I have no idea what it's up to.
Short of spending an indecent amount of $$$ for the connector from the filter to my computer, I can only play guess work unfortunately.

No kidding! It was bad enough that the filter was so bloody expensive to begin with, and came with zero media, but the added cost of the connector is a big pile of lizard excrement.

It's like I joked about yesterday Eheim has some filters with wheels next they will offer a cart you can tow it with:). I still want my Eheim but the scary thing is many folks look towards them to set the standard. And the scary thing is that if they allow them to get cheapened up to keep that ever so important profit...it's sad. If yor going to charge the price at least maintain the quality many have come to expect for the name. Look at Saab it was a awsome company, Decent cars I loved mine, Aircraft, they sold out cheaped up and people just lost faith in them. To me it's sad.

In contrast, my eheim pro 2(basically the same filter without the electronics) and classics runs very well(and for which if you hang around, I am rather big fan of.

Eheim is known for their pumps, and not their electronics. In fact I distrust all electronics rated for consumer use. It is just not worth the risk if you don't need it.

I bought it because I thought "how cool is that, I can connect it to my laptop..." only to find out after that you have to buy a part akin to taking out a mortgage on a large house.

I just bought eheim 2262 for $350 and media for another $140

If you look at that filter(don't buy it, its way too big for a 75 gallon), it is a solid piece of engineering that is well worth the price; and for that amount of money, it is rated for a 500 gallon tank, but realistically, it is good for a 300 solo. You can probably find an eheim classic for much less that will fit your tank.

FOr fluval, they also have their own electronic filter...but for less, I get an FX5 with its imbedded chip(I dislike) anyday.
