Eheim 3e 2078 Problems

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
These filters do not give you the option to completely disable the eletronic crap and just run them as a normal filter?Glad to hear they are making good on your problem:). You know in the upcoming years I would not be surprised if you see them introduce a model which allows you to control options via remote? Just like Eheim or Fluval TV!!!! I'm a old f??? and electronics are taking over some of the most simple day to day objects we use.

This one allows me to control options from my computer, I just did not buy the proprietary usb interface to do it ($100+) after spending more than $400 on the filter itself (not including media which it doesn't come with!).

I'm annoyed that the board failed after 1 year and am hoping not to play the yearly replace game for the 3 years of the warranty. At least I know that once the warranty is up, it will still run even when the electronics have failed.

There are electronics that are reliable...they are called military grade...I very much doubt either eheim or fluval or any sane filter makers will invest in that sort of reliability.

This is good to know. I would design it the same way to be backward compatible with how their filters work, ie. if the user isn't selecting to use the new functionality/feature, the filter should still work the old way.

Not so much with my robotic vacuum cleaner though...the sensor went bad after 3 months of daily scheduled runs. Got a new one last week under warranty, free shipping and got to keep the accessories, and changed the scheduling to run only once a week. I'm afraid that I bought a year of service for $300 because the warranty is only 1 year and I know the consumer grade sensor or general electronic parts used on this robot is not long lasting. Oh well, I was helping the economy... :)

So... I got the top portion of the filter replacement - and when I mean top portion, I mean a stripped version.

There were no rubber gaskets on it at all, a piece of the impeller was missing, and the red handle/button was also missing.

So, after stripping stuff from my top piece & putting it on the new top piece, the electronics work... sort of.

The same problem is there with the new top piece right before it went to just the amber light, and then total board failure.

I decided to make a terrible quality (well, I can't help that lol) edited video and sent the link to the contact that I have been dealing with at Eheim to get answers.

There is no reason for the continued problems, and slowly but surely, Eheim is losing my future business.

Here is the video... if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
