Eheim Canisiter Alternate Media

I have converted all my canisters to Eheims which I love for ease of use and functionality. What i dont like is the steep price that can come with replacing media. I was curious if anyone has tried anything other than Eheim products in their canisters with success?

the thing about eheims, I have six is ,,to pack correctly and expel air , in some of my canisters i use coralife bioballs which are long term and floss, then a carbon bag and floss and the costs have been cut considerably. Good luck

Seachem Matrix would work, I'd imagine. And you never have to replace it since it doesn't degrade.

That's what I plan on putting in my Eheim I just bought.
