Hello.

I'm ordering a replacement sealing ring for my Eheim 2028 (professional II) canister filter. I have a leak of approx 2-3 drops of water where the top of the mechanical unit (where the pump resides) and the actual plastic canister meet. This occurs only when the power is shut off. I've tried using the silicone lubricant without success.

My question: Do I need to unscrew the whole mechanical top (where the pump is) in order to replace the square shaped sealing ring?

Thanks.

JJ

No you don't. The square sealing ring is located in a groove located on the underside of the pump head. Disconnect the power cord, shut off the integrated double tap & disconnect it from the pump head. Take the filter to a sink & unlatch the 4 latches. Remove the pump head & flip it upside down on a towel. You will need a pointy object (tweezers, straight pin, etc) to pick out the old sealing ring.

Clean the groove & lubricate the new square sealing ring before installing it. That's all there is to it.

Thank you VERY much! It's nice to see there are some great people who are willing to go the extra mile for a stranger!

ya.. the sealing ring is a known problem on EHEIM 2000s series.. Professional I & II..

Also, i heard from other people that pressing the primer button when water is full causes the sealing to be damaged.. just rumors, ir urs has a primer button.

EHEIM are good filters but just minor adjustments.. Hope that fixes the problem...

Guys, thanks. I just went through a power outage and caught my eheim pro 2 leaking...lucky me, I just lost about a gallon before I noticed it. I'll get that seal replaced asap.
