Hello everyone, out of all eheim canister filter which one is best and long lasting? everybody has been telling me about eheim classic 2262 model is best on the market and the pro 3 2080 is a better built model.

2260 without a doubt. Unending war horse ( originnally built for lakes )

2280 sucks....very pretty, looks awesome. Forget it.

+1 Eheim 2260 or 2262 by far a better product, plus it does a ton of work and is ninja silent about it.

I have used neither the 2080 or the 2262 models... but I have used the smaller versions. The Classic series Eheims including the 2262 are just "Tanks" in many ways. They are literally just a tank that you throw your media into without any of the bells and whistles of the more modern designs. Their simplistic design and lack of features means there isn't much to go wrong with them... aka The famous Russian T34 medium armored battle tank.

I don't own a 2080 but I do won a 2075 pro III and love it. It has never given me any problems and I really appreciate the quick disconnect plumping. The priming button has always worked for me and has never caused any problems. I also really like the media trays and how easy they make the filter to maintain.

I gave my old Eheim classic to a friend a while ago. My 2075 is the ONLY canister I still run... because I think sumps do a much better job filtering... but I spent too much money on the 2075 to shelf it!

I don't think you could go wrong with either filter but if you want the absolute best for reliability I think the 2262 wins do to it's simplicity!

Guys, I'm starting up a 2262 in my 150G Jag pair tank. They're both over 13" What type of Media and Media ratios would you experienced guys fill it with?

I have run three eheim classics for twenty yrs w/o one problem ever need I say more

mechanical filtration on the bottom, such as Ehfifix ( that green Eheim plastic stuff)
a good load of bio media in the middle
one or two pieces of foam , circular on top, covering everything up.

with the "tanks", as someone said, utter care must be used when closing the lid. Make sure the o ring is and stays in place, then screw the screws , slowly, in the diagonal, advancing the same degree of "screwing" with each one before having them all tight ( as you would do with a car tire screws....)

Did you get my meaning? English is not my language.....sorry
