Eheim for a 300g

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I also read review after review ..

couldn't make up my mind .. for the money you have to put out for the Eheim/media , you could purchase 2 fx5's !! I finally decide to get the fx5 and a 850gph W/D , and the price is roughly the same ..(roughly 100$ higher) as buying 1 Eheim 2262/media ... I know you could make the bio area argument with the Ehiem , but with the wet dry I got more bio area , and with the fx5 .. plenty of mech .

I have the 2262 on my 125 and it's awesome. I finally tore it down after 11 1/2 months of operation and it was hardly even dirty. It has plenty of flow to keep my 125 clean without much vacuuming of the bottom. Most of my water changes are done by just opening the flush valve and draining the tank through the filter (a great option). As far as media I have mostly eheim ehfisubstrat pro with eheim ehfimech on the bottom and eheim ehfifix on top. It is expensive but worth it. I used to use the regular ehfisubstrat and it would eventualy plug up. I switched to the ehfisubstrat pro and it's worth the money in my opinion. It doesn't plug up and restrict the flow and has altot of surface area . I more than doubled the time between breakdowns on my filters when I switched to the pro media. Hope this helps

I should be recieving mine this week ordered it thurs for a 220G so no experience with the filter yet lol. this is what I ordered for media with the help of another mfker 3L ehfimech, 5L substrat and 5L substrat pro. Plus 3L Ehfifix. Then finish with you floss and lattice screen I didnt order the floss but like $180 from dr foster remember the ck thing to do with codes. hope this helps.

I added a Koralia 4 powerhead to keep the detritus suspended.

Where did you place the Koralia 4 so that it does this? I have the same thing and was thinking about using it to keep the bottom clean...and maybe another to push the waste up to the overflows.

THanks!

I put it in the front upper left corner and played with the downward angle until it just swept the pleco poop off the sand substrate. Some of the sand does get relocated so I just re level it during weekly water changes.

You may want to add additional canisters i would never rely on one in case of malfunction. I have a pro 3, two fx5 and a 2260 on my 240 g, aro dat tank. you can get a fx5 $200 shipped of eBay i love eheim but the fx5 is a good deal and its provides lots of current. For media i use eheim and cell pore and don't forget the purigen.

heyy m8 ... how well does purigen work? and what media are you using in your pro 3? cause right now in my pro 2 i have the ceramic rings and eheim sub pro. in the top to tray. and i planning adding some chemical filtration to clear up my water. i was planning on using chemi-pro elite and zeolite on my top tray and leave the bottom two for bio. and i came upon purigen and havent figured out if i should buy or not.

i also herd recharging purigen is a pain in the ***
