EHEIM HAS ARRIVED !

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would use a sponge filter hooked up to an airline myself... You get the benefits of an airstone plus you have an additional back up filter. Why not right?

As far as eheim, I run a 2217 on my 90 gallon and I can break it down for you from an unbiased perspective.

Pros:
Reliable
Silent
Great biological filtration
Pretty easy to clean
Low energy consumption (but more than a comparable aquaclear HOB)
Comes with media

Cons:
Weaker flow compared to similar sized canisters
So-so mechanical filtration
Can be a little difficult to get primed at first

To prime the classics, I hook everything up, except the returns attachment point to the spray bar. Suck on this hose, then attach to the spray bar.

How good does it clear the little particles in the water, that cause cloudyness? :D that would fall under biological i believe?

Oh and to answer what hang ons i haver...its just basic aqua ones... one came with my 20 gallon tank... but i have a better one there now, so i moved this to my 55gallon, and ihve another hang on for my 55gallon thats for 36 gallons of water...

As you all can see my filtration is not so good for my flowerhorn... so i stepped up a bit... :)

That would fall under mechanical filtration.

depends on whats causing the cloudiness, if its a bacterial, algae bloom, mech filtration wont help you in that department
