I was interested in the pro3 and pro4 but read too many reports of leaks eventually forming at the inlet/outlet head. I purchased two 2217's for a 125 and already have one setup. It doesn't get any more quiet! I decided to just use one of them though for surface agitation and will build a w/d to go with it. I would say on a 90 with your light stock, a single 2217 could go 2-4 months between cleanings. I will say that with stock media setup, 50 inches of head, and having not shortened the stock hoses, I'm only getting 142gph. So all that just FYI.
Incidentally, I have an fx6 crammed full of biomax on a 110 overstocked with oranda and black moor goldies and it's just as quiet as the 2217, but I haven't calibrated the flow yet. I will say that I enjoy the simplicity of the classics and cleaning is easier than you think. Mech filtration would be outstanding if you aim a power head at the intake from across the tank.
Also, your topic mentioned the 2262. By all means go with this if you have the scratch and the room. Versatile enough for almost any tank and resale value is way better. I just got in a 1262 pump and it is a beauty of style and engineering. Use the supplied media bag for your main bio and cleaning would be a breeze. You might clean twice a year tops with this on a lightly stocked 90.
Hope you find something.
