so, i recently bought two used 2026 filters for 2 of my tanks. i've been having a bit of an issue with the one for my 55 gal. when i initially set it up and got it running, it ran fine and well with no problems. super quiet and awesome. when i did a water change about a week or so later, i unplugged it and when i plugged it back in, it made this terrible rattling and there was no water flow. i shook it and nothing. shook it again and nothing. i took it apart and pulled out the impeller, everything looked fine and well. when i hooked it back up, same problem. took it apart again and again and ended up breaking the ceramic shaft. ordered another from big al's and just got it, put it back together and it's still doing the same thing.

can anyone tell me what the problem might be? it was fully primed and ready to go every time i've tried to start it up...

thanks, taksan, but i finally got it figured out after a lot of examination. turns out the blade/fan of the impeller was separating from the magnet causing the rattling and no flow. stuck them back together and presto! everything's working again. yay! :)

The "prime" pump mechanism you push on the top of mine no longer works for whatever reason. I have to prime it the old fashion way... you know, where you can get a mouth full of tank water? :)

I never use the prime button on my 2028. I hear that these filters are notorious for leaking and i hear there are plenty of examples of the prime button gasket going bad. The prime bottom gasket isnt even sold seperately by eheim. Only place to get it is Atomicrice.com. Looks like a shady site but I got my order very quick. Didnt need it but good to have in case.
