I was wondering if anybody's had a problem with their pro II's leaking thru the seal from the head unit to the body...mine recently dumped about 40gal of water on the floor during a power outage. Any help is appreciated.
Check the gasket that seals the head to the canister. If the head got place on improperly, or has sat dry for a long time, or the occasional manufacturer's flaw, these can leak.
I have had this happen twice. After about 2 years with both 2028's. The seal gets a little hard and will leak when the power is off and the valve is still open. One of mine leaked abit with a power outage but once the power came back on was fine. I replaced the head gasket on both and they are fine.
Thanks for the post DRB. I'm going to order a new set of o-ring and head gasket. How often should these be replace? That's something I always wonder since rubber do loose elasticity and get hard over time.
You might want to verify if the leak is coming from the o-ring where the pump head latches to the canister body. On my 2028, the leak only occurs when the pump is off & disconnects are open. The o-ring for the primer button is the culprit in my case. I purchased this o-ring from www.atomicrice.com but have yet to install it. I discovered this solution on www.plantedtank.net a few months ago.
