eheim pro3 2080 vs. fluval fx5

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i run a 2080 and it is the quietest filter i have ever owned , i even keep having to check it is actually switched on , my parameters are spot on and i am about to set up another tank ,, i will be buying another 2080 i should think , i like the guage that tells you when the flow is getting restricted so you know when it needs a clean out ,,

There are two different families of pro 3 eheims. The pro 3E 2076 and the 2078 are rated for a 105 and 180 respectively. These can be found cheaper then an FX5 filter. The pro 3 which is rated for a 450gallon 2080 and the thermal version the 2180 are superior to the FX5. If you can get the 2080 or 2180 for $280 then go for it they last forever, also let me know where as I'm upgrading tanks and need a pro3.

The FX5 has a bottom drain so water changes can be made much easier if you have somewhere to connect it to. I'm very happy with the fluvals I have had in the past but Eheims just last a lot longer.

Oooo...... Good point. Eheim has three new Pro III's coming out. I just assumed 2080.

I've never seen a 2080 cheaper then $380.00...get it!

I have 2 2080's...love em, I have 1 FX5...hate it

Some don't like them because they clog easily when using small partical filtration pads. I hope this summer I will be able to manufacture something from my house to resolve that issue.
