EHEIM VS FLUVAL FX5

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I run a pro 2 2026 on my sons 46g tank. Its a couple of years old and makes a little bit of a rattle at the impeller. This is the first eheim I've ever had that made noise for no good reason. And yes I've replaced the impeller and shaft on the unit.

I run a fx5 and a eheim 2262 on my 230g. The fx5 is much louder then the big eheim. I can hear the fx5 running inside the tank stand when the house is quiet. I can't hear the 2262 standing next to it when the house is quiet.

The pro 2, even with the rattle, is quiter then the fx5. The fx5 is a much more powerful filter.

I was a FX5 fan until I saw Ehiem 2260 Canister Filter.

Forget the Pro 2, get the 2260 (it's the size of a 5 gallon bucket!!!!!!)

I think the Eheim would be the quieter filter if you are prepared to pay a bit more. The FX5 is a great filter though but will make more noise, which isn't ideal for when your trying to sleep.

A real fish nut never sleeps tho dude!:headbang2
Then some ear muffs are in order?
