which model is the best? I see the price for the 2080 is a bit cheaper than the 2078 under Rich @ Infinite...im most likely to grab the 2080...anyone know how easy it is to hook up a Coralife TT 18w uv sterilizer to the Eheim? Also where can i purchase full media for both eheim and Fx5?

best bet is to run the UV separate. the canister will push water through the tube too fast to be truely effective.

You gotta tell us what size tank. In general, I much prefer the Classic series (22xx), for cost and reliability.
I wouldn't touch the 2080 with a 10' pole. Search for my name and 2080 in this forum, and you'll see what I mean ...

2080s are very good units, but you can't go wrong with Eheim. If you have a very large tank a 2260 or 2262 may be a better choice.

see this is my first time going into cannisters since 2001. never touched one since then, but am getting back into it since ive canceled my plan on the wet/dry and got rid of it for an fx5 and some fish. I do want another filter to support the UV , i was also thinking of just using a small pump but i heard its best that uv sterilizer runs off filtered water that way no particles get stuck inside the sterilizer?? Whats the difference between 2262 and 2080?? I have no clue on these model #'s and the differences.... but i only see 2076 2078 and 2080 for sale under Rich@ Infinite

I really dont think I need to buy an eheim...its a 300g with only 6 fish(1 aro and 5 sharks) in it...probably will stay this way. it has 1 AC110 and 1 EMP400 running on it as of now, and the fx5 gonna hook it up soon. was just thinking of adding another filter just for the UV...but maybe ill just buy another AC110 lol
