absolutely awesome dudes.

ive been thinking about buying a UPS until i complete my fully solar array to run my tanks totally sustainably (as ill also be growing my own feed algea to compresss into tablets and breed my own brine shrimp/artemia etc).

so im going to get one this thursday when i get paid, DSE here in sydney have a 700VA unti for 140.

Update:

Units show no sign of aging: After 3 years, they still power the below filter for just under 1 hour

  • Eheim 2262 (80 Watts) for 0:53 hours

The problem with these is that they only last for a short time and the bacteria would not die in that period anyway. IMO it would be better if they were manually switched on after a power off of about ten hours or so. The time they lasted for would probably keep the bacteria going for another 12 hours or so then....... which would change the problem to one of heat preservation.....

Just tested longevity of my UPS.
They're 7 years old. I unplugged one and let the 2262 run the battery dry.
46 minutes.
Not bad for its age.
