Not even a comparison, IMO. Eheim trumps Fluval in every sense: larger media capacity, better quality pump in a better location, quieter, more reliable, no opportunity for water to bypass media, etc etc.
I would have to agree with the above. I have owned both the FX5 and the 2262 - I got rid of all the FX5 filters. Cleaning the FX5 is a real pain in the butt - it takes forever cleaning the 6 sponges and trays. When you spray\brush off the trays you get covered in all the spatter. Further the 3 filter trays take up a lot of valuable real estate in the filter.
With the 2262, it takes no time to clean. Simply pull the large bio media bag out, then the sponges, and then rinse the ceramic pre-filter media. I can completely tear down and clean my 2 2262 in 45 mins. With the fx5 it took almost 45 mins each.
I also found the fx5 also required more frequent cleanings.
The 2262 holds way more media - there really isn't a comparison.
I'm trying to figure out why there is so many differences in the fx5 and fx6. I have an fx6 but does not have any indicators on it while I see people do have indicators on it. Also run a API XL canister filter but I don't like it that much I prefer the ehiem and will most likely replace that one with the ehiem. But I find the fluval to have more power and super quite.
