EI Dosing and Shrimps

I'm still a newb when it comes to planted tanks, but doesn't EI dosing assume that the KNO3 that you're dosing is the sole contributor of nitrate to your system? While that may be the case if you have a very low fish load like a lot of the plant guys do, but the average MFKer's tank has a lot of nitrate generation independent of KNO3 dosing? What's your stock? If your fish are providing a bunch of nitrate (or if you have nitrate in your tap water) maybe you should back of the KNO3 a bit.

EI assumes that you do a large water change, probably 50%, once a week. You are aiming for certain parameters. 20-30ppm nitrate is one of them. I think a good plan would be to measure your nitrates right before your water change to figure out how much KNO3 you should be dosing to not go over 20-30ppm.

50% at least a week. 9 Denisonii 1 Powder Blue Ram 3 pareutropius buffei in 67 GAL.

is it not a good idea to dose ferts on WC day? Also should you dose macros and micros same day or not? Someone told me its not a good idea.
