Electric Bill In California

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just looked at my electric bill and it's $30 more than usual. :irked:

The electric companies get electricity free but they charge their customers, hmmm (scratching head). People need to wake up, electricity , water, cell phones, free energy. Most items you buy are marked up 500+%. Isn't capitalism great ? cough cough...

Yes, it is. Ask the Chinese how much they like their government, oh wait you can't because their internet is censored and monitored.

How the hell do you figure it's free? They don't have employees to pay?

OP, I cut my electric bill by more than 25% by changing my house bulbs to CFL and my aquarium lights to LED. Also just being careful not to leave things on.

A quick look at the Chinese economy and it screams capitalism...Have been that way for over 20 years ;)

There are lots of problems in China, most of which are reported in great details in the western press; but one seldom reported thing is that more Chinese are optimistic about their country than Americans with ours.

On Topic:

Utility bill hit $250 this month...sigh...

Yes in China they don't have any of that Free Dumb speech, you say something stupid there you face the consequences unlike here in America where anyone can say anything without having their teeth knocked out.

The electric companies need employees to keep the illusion alive, someone has to work the bull**** engines and it won't be the ones on top who profit from it.

That's why the government stole all of Tesla's patents, he had the keys to providing free energy to the entire world. You can power an entire city for next to nothing, the utility companies don't want you to know that. The reason why the Green Energy concept is slow to lift off is because first they need to find a way to profit from it, if they can't then it will be trashed.

Well, I would support involuntary sterilization in some cases in the US. Ahem...

Most of the cost of running a tank will be the heater, especially in winter. I think the problem is that you've got 5 tanks running and since it's winter, each one is going to cost you some significant money in heating costs. Is your house kind of cold at night? If it is, try turning up the heating in your house and that will stop the heaters in your tanks from turning on so often. also make sure you do everything you can to close any gaps on the top of your tank.

If it were my house, I would consider getting rid of the 2 smallest tanks to save money and space. You've only got 700 sq. and a couple huge tanks already so those small tanks might not be worth it. If you get rid of the 2 small tanks, your electricity bill will go down by a lot. I shut down a 60g and a 10g and I noticed my bill went down by a big percent. If those 2 small ones are glass tanks (much less insulation than acrylic) then that's another big reason to shut down those 2 small ones. Maybe you could just put those fish into your bigger tanks. And if your Iwaki pump is really 145 watts, I would sell it and get a Rio pump instead. They're cheaper, almost as quiet and use much less energy than 145w.
