  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I’ve raised hundreds of EBA they are almost as prolific as convicts.
Are you trying save and raise the fry or just let nature take its course?

I will let nature take its course but I am getting confused now I have the female in the hand corner of the tank defending the fry on her own the male now seems to have paired up with another female who has now coloured up and shaking her body next to the male is this common.

I've heard of Cichlid displaying the behavior you have described.

yeah more than one female not enough for him it will be interesting to see how it turns out even as they are now it is hard to tell male from female I am only going by the male seems to be growing faster as when I got them 4 weeks ago they were nearly all the same size

If they grow anything like normal blue acara, another month or so and there won't be any question who is who20191211_175315.jpg
Also I remember reading on here at least 1 example of keeping GT in a harem setup with a male breeding with multiple females(very very closely related so its within reason that it could be the case here as well)

yes the males dorsal fin now is beginning to get a bit longer they now seem to be making a nest area near the filter intake not a good idea the other female is guarding the fry at the the other end of the tank and all the other fish are now in the middle of the tank don't know how many fry are left.

spawned again second set of fry they are having a battle trying to keep the other fish away from the fry.
