Has anyone seen an electric blue acara with some good size? All the ones I've seen are small, I would like to see the breeding pair that's producing all these babies out on the market.

At the moment, no one knows how they are being created. The secret is being closely guarded like how super red severums are created.

A guy I know from another group got 2 in a tank purchase a few weeks ago. One just dropped dead a couple days ago, which makes me wonder if they suffer from the same mysterious random deaths that EBJDs do.

I haven't seen any adults yet either. They first popped up a year or two ago and were super scarce to find until a few months ago. Then suddenly they are fairly easy to find if you do a little digging. But they are super expensive (cheapest I have seen were $30 each).

They are $24 at my lfs, but I'm scared to get them because of all the secretive activity and the fact of no adults being seen

Agreed. With my friend's 2.5-3" electric acara just randomly dropping dead and the fact that I too have never seen a picture of an adult, I am incredibly undecided on if getting some is worth the cash.

I'm sure if people wait a few months we'll know if they are capable of breeding, and if they breed true.

I hope so. This is what I am waiting to see. Hopefully someone can divine the secret of these guys and put some of us at ease about investing so much money in them. I only wish I knew the secret of the super red severum. :)

If some one is breeding these guys they would have showed some adult pics, so don't waste your money and fall for the hype.

I have the same question as the original poster. It's been a few years since this thread was updated, so I am checking if anyone has seen adult electric blue acaras since then or is the going theory that they don't make it to adulthood?
