Can you keep electric blue cichlids together without them killing eachother?

I have a 55 gallon and would like to have a few. This tank would be temporary of course.

If they cant be together, what other kind of blue fish would go well together? I like the color of female kenyis.

if you are talking about african cichlid ...electric blue.. they are males and males do fine with each other as long as no females in the tank...

Yes they are african cichlids.

Also, are those different than Electric Blue Jack Dempseys? I like the look of those aswell.

So all the electric blue africans are males?

And do electric blue jack dempseys get along together? Sorry, Imm not very experienced with cichlids.

No.. not all of the eb african chiclids are males.. then there would be no way of them reproducing.

There are Electric Blue African Chiclids, which are compatible with other males.
And then there are Electric Blue Jack Dempseys which depends on the temperament of the individual fish, A pair should be okay in a 55 gallon.

Yes most of the blue or very colorful fish in the african species is males.. the females are drab usually.. the males do not color up until they are mature..
i do not think jack dempseys can go together unless they are a pair otherwise do not think they would get along.. but someone else with more experience with this fish can steer you right.. my experiences with electric blue jd is that they are very fragile until they are about 3 inches.. i was very dedicated about raising them and both of mine died.. they are a relatively new breed.. and i just don't think they have been able to make them hardy as yet.. but you will get more info from other EB owners... i just see alot of losses with them so as a beginner i would suggest the african cichlid tank of males.. but check it out to see if you really like this.. a 55 is suitable tank.. lots of nice african tank set ups here to see on mfk..

Hmm, I think I will go with some Electric Blue Africans then. So, the males should be more colorful? And I should try to stay away from mixing males and females in one tank?
