Yep not hybrids. the whole hybrid thing has been blown out the water by recent DNA tests. I'll see if i can find the article.

I have been poking around the ebjd forum and while it seems that there still needs to be more research done preliminary evidence suggests that they are not a hybrid but are a color morph.
100% jack dempsey. rececive gene color morph indeed. absolutely no jag in the mix at all, nor is there any other fish or artificial coloring added. I understand that many people might not know that, but the lack of info should not be replaced with pure crap.
