Electric Blue Jack Dempsey Cichlid

Today I saw a pair of Blue Jack Dempsey at the LFS, one is sold for over a hundred Malaysian Ringgit. They were strikingly beautiful, electric blue. I believe both were males and they were fighting. They looked damn healthy and active though, when I witnessed I was just Young Princes fighting to be the only King.

I have no space for now, but the Blue Jack Dempsey definitely goes in my List To Have. Does anyone have this awesome species? I remember seeing someone have it here, but not until I saw them in person was I truly told of their magnificence. Any experience to share?

Should I call it the Neon / Electric Blue Jack Dempsey? Because I know there is a normal blue. To see them under the light was

Blue dempsey is just another term for the same fish you saw.

In general people refer to them as blue dempseys, or electric blue dempseys (EBJD for short).

they are a wonderful fish.......Mine was my first cichlid and I still have him at 7"........a must have IMO..........

I used to have three of them and all of them died. For unknown causes. I think it could have been internal problems but I cant be sure. EBJDs are VERY fragile and can die on you out of nowhere.
