Electric Blue Jack Dempsey - Myth?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think that the reason so many people think that EBJDs die, for whatever reason, when they're smaller is because they are usually purchased smaller, like 1-1/2" to 2-1/2" and they die within the first couple of weeks to couple of months. Maybe it's just because they don't take the stress of aclimation to a new environment very well. I think some just stress out from shipping and die right away, within a couple of weeks, and some that pick up the "bug" can linger for a couple of months.
Once they adapt to thier new home, they do quite well as long as you don't pollute thier tank. I've kept several groups of EBJDs at different times in different tanks without losing any... Just a different angle to think about

The ones that I have had in the past also have not had any problems. Sorry to hear about your loss. This chick I work with is currently trying to cross her het ebjd with 4 of my baby flowerhorns. I'll keep you posted with her results.
