Doesn't look deformed at all. He looks good, from what I can tell from blurry picts. Nice pick up, especially for $25.

Gorgeous fish....I bet it turns out just fine......But watch that pink stuff on the gill plate, and white thick slime coat......make sure it doesn't spread or get worse.....I almost lost a 7" one with the same thing......they are prone to bacterial infections, need clean water....UV sterilizer helps.......and don't like really hard water.....

Dempsey's love hard water, it's the water they come from naturally. My water is probably harder than 90% of people here and mine have done wonderful in my water the past 4 months. Clean hard water and a varied diet, just like all fish

I breed my Blue Dempseys in exceptionally soft water... I wouldn't say they love one or the other, I would say they do well in a wide range of water conditions...

I don't claim to be expert at sexing Blue dempseys at all, but I have watched quite a few of them grow out and later verify gender. I don't see any reason to assume this one is a male, and I do see a few signs that would make me think it may be female.
