Here's a pic of my 7" male. I've never seen a confirmed pic of a female BJD, is there a chance the colour is sex linked ? There's some unusual genetics going on with these...

You bring up an interesting point. Most of the adult photos I've seen of BJD's look like males.

In this link , there's a photo of a young BJD pair. As most of us know, breeding two BJD's will end up in failure.

Not just any regular JD; you need a regular JD that is carrying the recessive 'Blue JD' gene.

pretty docile fish.

my freind had one and it grew to 3" than turned into the regular colourings of a dempsey
