I just bought a 2 inch ebjd and all it does is hide. It is in a 55 gallon. The water parameters are, ammonia-0 nitrite-0 nitrate-10 ph-7. I have had it in this tank for three days. There is also another JD in the tank that is close to 3 inches. I currently have them both separated with a clear acrylic Tnh divider until the electric blue catches up in size. Is there anything I can do to make it eat? Thank You.

ebjd are very picky from my exp. and they get stressed and sick rather quickly... when my ebjd stopped eating , i would throw in some frozen brine shrimp and he gobbled it up.. (my 2c)

Blue Jack will not do well with a regular JD. They are very different fish in temperment and growth rate. The Blue will never catch up to the reg JD. They are a genetically weak strain of the breed, and very much negatively affected by stress, iffy water quality. Conditions must be perfect and you need a lot of pure luck for these fish to survive past 3 ins. Couple days in a new tank and not eating is quite common for any fish, but you dont have optimal conditions to raise an ebjd. Being in a divided tank and knowing there is another fish on the other side is not a good start for a fragile fish.

my experience with ebjd is pretty much no different than with any other fish. i find mine eat better with a group of fish around. truthfully not really sure why i got mine. i heard that they are fragile fish and just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. 2 weeks after i got mine all the one still at the lfs had white spots in there eyes. mine never got them. right now i have two @ 2.5" with 2 dats @ 2.5 " and they are all doing well no hiding of any of them they are all in a ten gallon at the moment with another ten gallon attached as a refugium. so far hey eat pellets, earth worms, blood worms, krill. i just didn't feed them for a few days then dropped in pellets and they ate them. i know four fish isn't really a group but i think the food competition drives the eating

From my observations so far, my ebjd only comes out of hiding when my jd comes out as well. It just doesn't go up to eat. I'm gonna try feeding it a more varied diet. Maybe some frozen brine shrimp like Jayfish7 suggested.

It's only been 3 days. Takes some longer to settle in than others. I dont even try to feed until the 3rd day with new fish

Agree that some fish won't eat much right after a change of tank-- others the first thing they want to do is eat. But I had an EBJD that was well established in the tank and went through a phase of not eating much, not growing much @ 2.5-3 inches. Started giving him freeze dried mysis and this worked for me. Blood worms ok as a treat (I do freeze dried, not frozen), but mysis is better nutritionally, blood worms more like candy imo.

As stated, blues are very sensitive fish with weak immune systems.
It is possible that he might have new tank syndrome, was your tank developed with enough beneficial bacteria? Also provided hiding places is a plus.

He could also be sick with parasites if he is not eating and if you see any signs of white poop/constipation.

Everytime I get a blue, I treat them with diluted epsom salt via pipette down the throat to flush out the system. Some treat with metro, but I prefer to stick with Natural route first as medication can cause more stress to their already weak immune and digestive systems.

I then treat the tank with probiotics to ensure disease prevention and since I have followed this steps, I have not lost a blue to any parasites/diseases.
Diet is also an important factor. I only feed flakes for the first few inches as they are easy to digest, also no bloodworms as that can cause SBD from my experience.

Here is my current blue with gold gene.
