Stress coat helps to replace slime coat very well, which helps speed along healing. Melafix is great for helping heal up scraps and cuts. Personally, if it is just some torn up fins, I recommend the stress coat. Melafix is for more serious injuries IMO.

Stress coat will not. Not 100% sure about Melafix. Make sure to read the back of the bottle and if it mentions scaleless fish or sensitive fish, don't use it.

No. Both are fine to add to tanks with healthy fish. I always dose any of my tanks with stress coat that are receiving new additions to help everyone with maintaining their slime coats.

I like to keep Melafix and Pimafix around for the cichlids. Its a good thing to use after a fight to help heal and also helps to prevent stress related illnesses. I think stess coat is better for using to add fish, but it will also help fin repair, just dosent have that last preventative measure like the other pair.

He's doing much better now! I have him with the fire eel, clown pleco and 8 snakeskin barbs. It doesn't seem like he's growing tho. Ill add a pic whe. I get home
