I just bought an electric blue jack dempsey a few days ago. Its only 2" right now. Wondering if anyone knows how fast they grow. Do they grow just as fast as a normal JD or slower? Also, anybody got any pics of a full size adult? Ive only seen pics of juvies.

they grow very slow, and are very fragile..make sure you keep up with the WC's and he'll stay healthy for you

just google "electric blue jack dempsey" and a few pics of adults will show up

Slow is not even a word to describe teir growth. You will literally feel your hair turning gray as you watch them grow

1" to 2" in in four months. (water changes, feed quality food 2-3 times a day, and water changes).

get some internal parasite food. just in case. they seem to be very easy to get these from whatever. oh and make sure that they ARE NOT with anything that is gonna beat it up in the slitest. this will deter it from eating and then very hard to get them to eat agian. gl on the bugger, hope he does well. :grinno:

Regular JD's grow slowly... EBJD's grow super-slowly.

That hasn't been my experience with regular JD's. When I got mine, they were a little over an inch long and very light in color. Now (about 4 months later), three of them are about 3.5", and two of them are a little over 4", all very darkly colored. Perhaps I just got lucky and got good stock.

I've heard that EBJD's grow excruciatingly slowly. I wouldn't really know, though. The one I bought and posted a pic of a couple months ago committed suicide. I'm still bummed! It was such a beautiful fish.
