Wow i didnt know EBJD's grew that slow! i guess i will find out though.:naughty: My experience with normal JD's is that they grow pretty fast. Cuz my old normal JD grew rapidly from 2" to 8" in a year. But i was feeding him 2-3 times a day.
And i did end up finding this sweet pic of an adult. Hope mine will get to this size and look this nice.:D

Right now, i have 3 1 inch ebjds. So if i feed them 2 -3 times a day, that will speed up their growth?

cuz from what cichlid_25 is saying, it might work!

I want my ebjds to growth and also my jds which are less than 3 inches

Well thats how i fed my normal JD. He grew really fast from feeding him so much. I dont know whether this will cause EBJD to grow faster....but i would assume it would help.

They (reg. JD's) grow grow slowly compared to many other CA's... its often less than 1/2" per month.

You've probably got a lot more experience with SA/CA cichlids than I do. The only other neotropical cichlids I have any experience with are my two firemouths, which seem to be growing a lot slower than my JD's.

Until I joined this forum, my experience was mainly with mbunas, various Mastecembelus sp. and fish such as angels, cories, loaches and such. It was from reading posts from knowledgeable folks like you that I developed a true interest in SA/CA cichlids.
I just wanted to clear that up, so you knew I wasn't trying to argue with you or anything. I've just been really impressed with how fast my JD's have grown.

Just curious here, but my ebjd seems to really not like my gt. Odd since they wouldn't run into each other in the wild. Has anyone noticed this with regular jds?

Would have pm'd you, but I haven't enought time on the board to do much beyond post. So... I'm also in NY, and have been working on raising ebjds for awhile now. I have one remaining out of the four that I've purchased. Usually if you can get them past the 3" stage they will survive. That's no guarantee, however, because I lost my bruiser when he was about 5". My remaining fish is somewhere between 5-6" now. Beautiful fish, but delicate.
