You can't keep any other fish unless intended as a meal for the electric catfish. It uses its electrical charges to stun its prey.;)

No.

They can live with other fish like Synodontis catfish they are shock immune.

an old friend had one in a 75 nothing lasted longer then a few days with it cichlids large tetras and barbs other catfish there are two species that are seen in the aquarium trade both get 2 feet in the wild one gets close to three they seem to be able to produce more electricity as they grow little ones are harmless and make you and other fish just tingle my friends was 13'' and would give you a jolt he had to wear rubber gloves to clean its tank
only tankmates would have to be to big to eat and be totally harmless any fish that would pester it won't last long they seem to be kind of territorial and won't hesitate to use there special ability also they use there little trick to hunt so during feeding other fish will get the same shock its food does

there mostly a solitary fish i think he wud get along very well with any feeders tho ;] lol

Make sure the electric catfishes have a lot of places to hide. I personally have 3 electric catfishes in my 55gal i have about 10 plants and a little cave for them. I keep 2 wolf fish, 1 oscar, 1 red devil, 1 jack dempsy, 1 pianha, and an irdesant shark( sorry about the spelling) they are all alive and are doing great. they shouldnt give any other fish problems as long as they have a place to hide. U should put food in before you turn the lights off of the tank. they are nocturnol.

I have had an electric catfish for 12 years! he lives in a 110. He is 12++ and wont tolerate any plecos or other catfishes! He also will kill any larger fish!
He absolutely ignores a colony of breeding convicts on 1 side of his tank! I think if he cant catch the convicts he just does not concern himself with them. I do have lots of plastic vines for the convicts to hide! He never shocks me when i hand feed him or even grab him softly. he will give a good jolt to anybody that grabs him hahahah some friend tried and got jolted hahaha!

I think it should be ok with non-territorial or aggressive fish. I have a fairly small Eclectic Catfish…the first day I put him in, he completely cleaned house…sent everyone running. My Crayfishes used to live in the sunken treasure chest that he now calls home. Recently, I found my wolfish all black, as if he was burnt and his midsection swollen. I also found one of my baby kois acting funny…like he is paralyzed from the waist down. Both are recovering in a 20 gallon tank…

where would you define the fish waist to be? And how did he roast your wolfish? That doesn't make sense
