Is this common behaviour?
I've noticed over the last few months that my electric Catfish rests completely vertical.
His behaviour outside of that is normal, very strong feeding response, swims around his tank actively in the evening.

I had 3 large bullheads that would always rest together vertically with their tummys to the back glass of the tank and therefore the open sunlight coming through the open garage overhead door (tank's in the garage) instead of taking to the darkness of the many caves available. Catfish do weird stuff.

I don't recall reading that e-cats are known to do it, nor have I had mine long enough, but I don't find it alarming especially if everything else seems alright.

Does the fish have a cave or some other hiding spot? If it's a departure from prior resting habits, it must mean something but what, IDK.

I've never heard of that in E-Cats. Generally when I've seen catfish resting vertically it was in Tigrinus that were unhappy. My E-Cat spent 90% of it's time resting on the bottom in a cave of sorts I created from the rocks or under the driftwood except during feeding time.
