your girlfriend's
just a question.. I was wondering if anyone has or has seen an electric catfish in the hobby?
thanks

have 6 of them at work they are the ugliest most boring fish ever. who seem to enjoy going up to you when your hands in the tank and shock you.

general rule of thumb, I don't keep a species that can kill me. Just my rule. I don't want to end up on one of those shows that the keeper was murdered by his "pet".

I suppose that would be plausible. Heck of a way to go though lol

I think it is extremely rare in the wild. In captivity, I've never heard of it. I've heard of people falling to the floor from the shock of a fully grown one (~350 volt) but not anything more serious. I'd be curious to know more though too. Simple precautions like wearing elbow high HD rubber gloves ensure no shock.
