They will not kill you. Well...I guess they could in a secondary manner if you had a heart condition, pacemaker, etc.
There's apparently 2 sub-species. One only gets about 10", the other gets to be about 3'. I had one of the smaller varieties I kept in a 55 by itself for 2 years. During the day they hide. At night they come out to hunt. The shock is enough to knock you back and startle you. Not enough to stop your heart though.
You cannot house them with anything else. Just doesn't work.
