electric eel floating ??????

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From my experience, I have never been able to get one back to health when the E. eel get that type of problem. It seens to be something that may be directly related to the E. eel. Mine would float, lifelessly, never eat, die within a week or so. It would also get, at the end, some type of slime coat loss, or fungus:(
ya he seem to b geting a white film or tint to him. man this sucks i dont wanna have him die.   im gonna try every thing i can

petsolutions.com carries Metronidazole if you can't find it at your lfs. So does kvvet.com (better deal)
thanks im on it i gotta fight for this guy i hate having fish die and i havnt had one in such a long time im not gonna have one die on me now

If it's going to take several days to get the metronidazole, you can start treating now with epsom salt (magnesium sulfate). The epsom salt will start flushing the eel's tissues of excess fluids/urea until you can get the metron. to kill the bacteria causing the affliction. You can pick epsom salt up almost anywhere for a couple of bucks for 3lbs. Add 4-6 tablespoons per 10 gallons and remember to replace after water changes.
BTW, this is the old treatment for bloat before metronidazole came along. However, it doesn't kill the bacteria and takes double the time metron. takes for recovery. But, it is a good head start until you can get the metron.

so far not so good, now he is all stiff. if he does swim he is all stiff and cant straigten out and stuff. i have a bad feeling he isnt gonna make it but im not giving up yet
