I know this isn't the diseases forum but I thought I might get a little more feed back over here. I have a 2ft + Electric Eel with ich. It's not the worse case I've seen but The eel is stressed out, changing color and everything. I have dosed the tank with salt and raised the temp but the eel gets more stressed out every day. Is there any medication that I should avoid? I know it's more closely related to the catfish but I'm not sure it's as hardy as that. Just looking for any advice as to what medication would be best. Here's some more info if it helps.

100gal tank
Parameters are reading fine with nitrates being about 15ppm and nitrites/ammonia at 0.
After I raised the temp it's sitting around 82.
No other tank mates.
Good cover and hiding places.

Any info or advice would help.

Thanks

Sorry never kept a electric eel but you might have more luck in the knife fish section cuz they are technically knife fish. Good luck!

You cant use salt on electric eels - it causes short-circuits and screws them right up. Seriously. You could kill it.
Electric eels are supposed to have rows of tiny white spots. Are you sure you're not just treating it with salt for no reason?

I doubt if white spot could survive an electric shock anyway.

They are now in the Gymnotidae family, and are officially knifefish.

Thanks for the info everyone. I stopped dosing salt and switched to using microbe-lift herbtanna. He is eating fine but still has ich. And yes I'm sure it is ich. But even though he is eating, it looks as though he is still getting thin.

When I first got it, it would shock feeder fish and then it stopped shocking them and went just to catching them on it's own. Thats when the ich appeared.
