electric eels

petsolutions.com sells electric eels for like $120... if they have them in stock of course. other than that you'll need to find a private vendor. theyre pretty hard to come by. and even harder to raise.

I've seen one for sale on Canadian aquatics a while ago, but like ihonesty said, they're pretty hard to come by.

lol you wouldnt think something that would kill anything in its tank, gets 4ft long, and could possibly injure/kill its owner would have any demand at all. still a pretty monster animal though! :headbang2 but if the OP can house one properly and keep a species tank, all the power to him. i'd get lungfish instead though. same idea, but you have more to work with!

Actually they can 6' in the wild, whether or not it's smaller in captivity who cares....still a true monster fish...that would suck if you got shocked by your pet electric eel.

AH. i was mistaken. prepare for 6 feet! haha and they dont hesitate to shock in captivity. i know a lfs used to have small ones for sale, that they fed with rubber gloves on. haha

There is a video on youtube where a big alligator was biting a big electric eel and the eel sent out its shock, and the alligator died from the electric shock. In my opinion, that is a very dangerous fish.

agreed. arent they capable of a 500-1000V shock? lol in japan, they used one to light a christmas display at a mall. i saw the article awhile back!!

They used to have a big Electric Eel at OMSI (the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) that would light up incandescent bulbs. I would love to keep one, but a 500+ gallon tank for a solitary (and fairly sedentary) fish is hard to justify.
