Just wondering if anyone's got good info about these guys. Mainly info about care, tank size((in gallons please, i'm no good with measurements xP)) as well as if all species of electric eel are salt water, or if there are fresh water varieties. I have no patience for a salt water tank >.o

Electrophorus electricus is the electric eel, and it's freshwater, from S.A. and grow just past 8 feet, but I'm not sure if they attain this size in aquarium. They are air breathers in the main, so you'd have to take that into consideration. It can create low and high voltage electic discharges, and can be used for communication with other E. electricus, stunning prey, hunting, orientation and defending itself.

I have a 32" one thats currently in a 100g (4x3x1.5ft)

But I'm planning something along the lines of a small swimming pool for him and a few other E. eels.
