Can I add 2 or 4 Electric yellow lab to my tank w/ small bichirs? and Chocolate cichlid? help plz...

I don't know, but I don't think keeping South American and African cichlids together would be a good idea, but I could be wrong.

As for the Bichirs this is all I can find and it does not sound good for the future when they get larger!
Bichirs are popular subjects of public and large hobby aquaria. Though predatory, they are otherwise peaceful and relatively nonactive, preferring to lie on the bottom, and make good tankmates with other species that are large enough not to be prey.

I do know that your "Chocolate" (Emerald) Cichlid gets to be around 12" that is more than twice the size of an adult Electric Yellow.

20yrs ago, I kept some SA's with my Africans....but your guys are going to get too big for EL's in the same tank.

Good excuse to get another tank.....

Thank for the info man... That's good for me... well I'll asure that they will be in the same tankmtaes as long as they are in the same size... otherwise I'll just buy them another tank... :)

i had my first bichir with my frontosa and that worked out fine... i lost the bichir because it banged it self on one of the ornaments ships i bought for the tank.. up inside the ship was a sharp edge... but i do not think i would put bichirs with most african cichlids... the africans have an enormous appetite.. hard to get the food to the bichirs on the bottom.. also cichlids in general are nippers.. there are some very sweet layed back yellow labs that may work out okay.. but some electric yellows can be nasty... so i quess it is a toss up..

I can shed some light being as my current setup is a senegal bichir with about 12 African cichlids in a 90 gallon

I have a 9" bichir in with my all African cichlid tank (Including two el yellows) The only issues I have had is that my bumblebee tail nips him on occasion (my bichirs tail) And when feeding became an issue at first I used a gardening tool like tongs to give him chopped silversides and krill. Now whenever its feeding time the bichir comes to the surface and I hand feed him krill and whatever else is on the menu. It is working great for me I did not expect it to work. And no the bichir has not even attempted to eat the africans they are too big.
