ELECTRICIANS, How Do I Wire LED Flood Lamps?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just get the ac lights sounds like your not comfortable with the ac to dc inversion. This way you can just go out and buy a 120 vac dimmer switch.

I just called you. Since you showed up on my thread, why don't you explain to the class why you have like 10 aquarium light fixtures that don't work in your garage and no idea what the reason is? ;)

I busted another phone sorry bro, new one gets delivered Monday. They don't work because I'm too cheap for new bulbs, how sad is that! My lighting knowledge stops at the on switch..

It's not that I'm not comfortable, it's more that I have no idea what that means. I'm totally willing to DIY, but i just have no idea what I'm doing. Like if I gave you directions in Japanese... What is 120 vac?

Mine too. :( I guess you'll be paying attention to this thread too. Is it just me or is a lot of this gibberish to you too?

I must have missed the part about the dimming.

So you'll actually be wiring into the dimmer, and terminating a lead from the dimmer to the plug.

So, to help this make sense, list exactly what you want to know below, with each part and crisper or I can attempt to give a little better detail without all the jargon... :)
Also what exactly your plan is for the lighting...

Dimming isn't a requirement, I'm just curious if it's any more work.
Okey doke.

Well it's not really any more work. Just means you're doing some simple screw terminal type termination to the dimmer, then terminating the dimmer's plug instead of the lamps. Probably less work really. Just different to connecting plugs.

Do you know what dimmer you'd be using?

Ok, yeah.
Later on they're talking about drivers, dimmers etc. (the buckpuck). These are for the "low" voltage LED arrays they're DIYing (sexy lights!)

Not relevant to the original posts about the flood lamps. So you just need to find a 110V AC dimmer switch to suit your country. Easiest way would be your local electrical shop. There are so many options for them... touch ones, sliders, knobs, etc.
The dimmer would come with exact wiring instructions for connecting it up. But same principals apply as mentioned earlier...
